Question…What steps are you taking to make your dreams come true?

I am nobody, but I am somebody! I have always enjoyed talking to and meeting new people.  It interests me to see what makes certain people tick and strive for something that makes them happy.  It could be anything, we are all so different and have a vast array of interests.  It is so easy to just sit there and watch the years pass by like minutes while you dream the dream and never do anything about it.

My entire life I was in search of my Niche, even in my teen years I always had several jobs and did charity work.  I think in my early Girl Scout years the lessons we learned with giving back really had an impact of who I was or wanted to become.  Throughout the years I tried many different things, call me a jack of all trades.  When my daughter was a baby, I started a house cleaning business, and it went really well for a while, but it got to be too difficult bringing her to the jobs with me, so I let that go.  I started a business called Eye Spy Quality Control, which was a mystery shopper type of business,  I mainly had restaurant gigs.  All in all it was too difficult because my first priority was raising my daughter, she never had a babysitter.  So I tried different things I could do at home to make extra money.  I made gourmet gift baskets, naughty gift baskets, (which were very popular), I did floral arranging and center pieces, I wrote screen plays, and the list goes on.  Even though I enjoyed all of those occupations, it never satisfied my inner self.

When Madison entered kindergarten I became a Realtor with Remax.  I sold homes for 10 years and I made a very good living at it, but in the summer of 2007, I knew the market was going to crash and I needed to re-invent myself so we could survive!  Soon thereafter Miss Priss Cupcakes & Such was  born.  If I hadn’t made cupcakes for My Best Friends daughters 16th birthday I wouldn’t be where I am today…And what I mean by where I am today is…Happy and proud of what I do, its fun, and creative!  Running a business is hard but it is a labor of love.  Keeping yourself surrounded by people who love you and want the best for you is what its all about.  Purging all negativity somehow makes everything better.

I was in business for about six months when I decided to go after the tv/movie industry.  This is not an easy task.  It is difficult to get the crafty’s to work with new vendors, but I got lucky!  My two favorite shows at the time were Grey’s Anatomy and Entourage….I scored, they both used Miss Priss for dessert!  It was awesome and I was grateful!  I worked with Joey on Entourage for 4 seasons until the show ended.  They just finished shooting the Entourage Movie, and I was happy to hear from Joey to join them again!  You know, it was always so incredible to visit the location or set of Entourage because everyone who works for the production is always so nice.  Whenever I would greet someone with a hello, and how are you, they would always respond, “Living the dream!”  That always stayed with me, there is nothing better than knowing where you work that you are living your dream!  It doesn’t get any better than that!

A few years ago I was asked to speak to a business class at DeVry University.  I was told it would just take about 10 minutes to talk about my business.  I was there for over an hour, because the students kept raising their hands and asking me questions.  They were so engaging and I had such a great time speaking to a room of hopeful, future business owners.  I felt very comfortable and in my element.

Please share some of your stories with me :)  I am always interested!  Have a prisstacular day!!
